Case Study – Emma
Operations Departmental Manager Level 5
I left school at the age of 17 and discovered a Receptionist Apprenticeship on the NHS website, which I applied for and was successful. During the receptionist apprenticeship, I received a wealth of knowledge and abilities that helped me proceed to a permanent position with the trust. Throughout my career, I have done various apprenticeships since I am extremely ambitious and strive to improve myself in all aspects of life. Apprenticeships have helped me go up the career ladder and gain confidence in what I do.
I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I left school, and I didn’t want to pay university fees if I wasn’t sure, but I knew I wanted to obtain more job experience and qualifications to help me advance in my career. I have gained more knowledge and skills in certain aspects which have then been implemented into work life. I am able to discuss work and get advice from other with experience and develop a networking group that you can take with you after the course.
Having further education means that I can now apply for higher level roles and be confident I have the knowledge and skills required. Prostart has assisted me not only with my apprenticeship work, but also with my confidence in progressing in my career and applying for higher-level roles. Tracy and David Brown have been helpful throughout my career. Tracy always made sure I understood and got the most out of every training session. Tracy was always available for help or advice, either by phone or email.
Go for it – You won’t look back, it’s a way of getting onto the career ladder. My employer has full funded all of the courses and allowed me to have the time to attend training courses. I am hoping to continue to progress in my career and help make a difference to the NHS. I would like to continue further education while I still have time before deciding to start my own family.
