Innovation in Practice: How Online Video Induction is Being Integrated into Prostart’s Training

Breaking the “One-Size-Fits-All” Barrier

For years, the standard for training providers was the group induction—a set time and place where every new learner had to be present. While effective in the past, we recognized that it created barriers. New apprentices are often balancing immediate workplace responsibilities, varied travel logistics, and the natural “New Year rush” nerves.

By replacing group sessions with an interactive online video induction, we are moving to a Learner-Centric Model. New apprentices can now progress through their induction at a time that suits them best during their first week of employment.

How It Works

The new platform is more than just a series of videos; it is a comprehensive digital simulation of the Prostart experience. It includes:

  • Self-Paced Modules: Learners can pause, rewind, and revisit complex information regarding their qualification standards and Prostart policies.
  • Integrated Hot Topics: Early exposure to our “Hot Topics”—including Safeguarding, Prevent, and British Values—ensuring these essential pillars are understood at the learner’s own speed of comprehension.
  • Accessibility: Whether at their new desk or at home, learners can access the induction on any device, ensuring a seamless transition into their professional role.

Why This Matters for 2026

This initiative is a direct response to the needs of the modern workforce. “Innovation in practice means removing friction,” says the Prostart Leadership Team. “By allowing a learner to complete their induction during their first week at their own pace, we reduce the ‘information overload’ often felt in group settings. This leads to better retention of information and a more confident start to their apprenticeship.”

Furthermore, this change allows our Training Assessors to move away from administrative group delivery and spend more high-value, one-on-one time with learners once they have completed their digital onboarding.

Supporting Resilience and Wellbeing

As highlighted in our January focus on Resilience and Wellbeing, we know that the first week of a new job can be overwhelming. This new digital tool supports mental wellbeing by removing the pressure of a “timed” group performance. It allows learners to settle into their new employer’s culture first, then complete their Prostart induction in a comfortable, controlled environment.

This is just the beginning of our 2026 digital transformation. As we continue to integrate new teaching tools and simulations into our curriculum, Prostart remains dedicated to providing flexible, high-quality education that meets the needs of both the learner and the employer.
