Prostart Awards 2023 Celebration

This year we celebrated our first annual Prostart Awards event in over 4 years.

Since 2012 we have held a yearly awards event to highlight our learners and employers that have worked tremendously hard over the previous year and due to restrictions of large groups we have had to delay this until 2023.

Our awards events give everyone in attendance a night of celebration to the end of their course of learning with a roll call and certification presentation and also nominated categories to win trophies in.

Prostart Awards 2023 winners

Traineeship Winner – Harvey Smith

Harvey started his Traineeship programme with us in September 2022 and has excelled during his short time with us. Harvey was keen to learn and gain new skills, working hard to develop his skills to support him to find an Apprenticeships.

Intermediate Apprenticeship Winner – Tehmoor Sheik

Tehmoor was quiet and reserved when he joined Castle Cavendish but has become more comfortable in the customer-facing role and gained more confidence in himself and his abilities since then. He now enjoys engaging with customers and visitors in person and on the telephone and provides first-hand support to our new apprentices who joined us this year. When one of our experienced customer services team members moved on to a new role earlier this year, Tehmoor was given the opportunity to step up and take on more responsibility which he did with a ‘can-do’ attitude, positivity, and enthusiasm.

Advanced Apprenticeship Winner – Ashanti Shand

Ashanti is a credit to her organisation with a strong work ethic and commitment to do high quality work at all times. Ashanti’s shining personality was an absolute pleasure to work with and feel she deserves this award.

Higher Apprenticeship Winner – Kelly Crossland

She can multitask and support her work team as well encourage them to progress their own careers, some of them on their own ILM journey. Their wellbeing is important and always makes sure they are looked after during these difficult times (cost of living crisis).

She leads by example and a . . . positive attitude has improved the efficiency of the team and the wider Building Services Department. She has made many positive contributions to Nottingham City Council including improving communication amongst the team with the introduction of a new filing structure, holding regular Team Meetings as well as making improvements to our budget management procedure to make sure the team understand the processes.

Employer Winner – Millbrook Mental Health Hospital

Millbrook Mental Health unit provides inpatient services and outpatient clinics to adults including older adults who need specialist mental health services. The availability for staff to complete qualifications is always seen as good professional development and offered as part of personal upskilling or for chances of promotion to higher grades.

The learners at Millbrook have consistently completed their programmes with enthusiasm and dedication to attending classes and producing high quality work. The learners generally complete the next level with Jemma and a few others completing their third level – Business and Administration level 4. Jemma supports her staff and apprentices fully and because she has completed the programmes understands the demands and requirements so is able to give first hand experience and create good learning opportunities to improve skills.

Special Recognition Award – United Carpets Long Eaton

A great ambassador organisation for Apprenticeships. From 1998 when Prostart first opened its doors in Long Eaton they have taken Apprentices under their wings and not only have these young people thrived but have grown with them to some now owning their own business that work with the company. This is a very family orientated environment and everyone is cared for from staff to customers. We are honoured to be associated with them and a much deserved Special Recognition Award has been given to their commitment to Apprentices and the community.

Special Recognition Award – A Place To Call Our Own

The Special Recognition Award has been given to this wonderful company which gives everyone they come in contact with a place where they can be given the time to develop in their own way and at their own pace. This is much needed in today’s society where the expectation is that we all run at 20 miles an hour and the individual is not valued. APTCOO makes that difference to lives and supports the families to cope with the struggles, strains and stresses of life.

Special Recognition Award – Nottingham City Council

This organisation has taken the development of their staff as a high priority and deserved the Special Recognition Award for the importance they hold in not just giving lip service to staff gaining qualifications, but giving time to staff to develop other bespoke skills. This has made a difference to moral and efficiency within the organisation, has had such a tremendous impact and is being showcased in the cost effective methods being implemented across the departments.
